TAPPETINO

with Hannah Neubauer & Nina Petritschenko

Goal of the group project was to design a piece of seating furniture for a Montessori school in Berlin, in order to improve the learning situation in the classroom.

As a group we decided to make a piece of furniture where the children can work on the floor, according to the suggestion of Maria Montessori and the wishes of the children themself.

What makes our concept unique are the movable triangles that provide a great flexibility for children and they are able to decide how they like to use the mat.

The large triangles provide the opportunity to set them up to get a stable back rest to lean on or over it.

Furthermore, the zippers between the pieces make “Tappetino” expandable and open-ended so the parts can be combined in different ways in order to get an individual structure.
