FORM DUST

FORM DUST is a sustainable material that I created during my master thesis.

The focus of my work was to experiment with creating foam from sawdust using the most ecological materials available. For both ethical and environmental reasons, it was important that none of the materials had an animal origin.

I wanted to develop a composite material that works in a circular way. Because it is generated as process waste in the woodworking industry, and since wood is biodegradable and renewable, I chose to use pure sawdust from a local sawmill as the primary component.

Currently, sawdust is mainly used as bedding for animals in the agriculture and pet farming industries. With my research, I sought to show that sawdust could be more than just a waste product, but also something useful and functional.
